Objectives

  • To assess the vulnerability of women and young girls in the community for an effective community based intervention plan.

  • To sensitize the community at large on issues related to the vulnerability of women to trafficking and HIV/AIDS.

  • To establish information channels and mechanisms in the community for facilitating specialized services and support for women in distress.

  • To prepare a district level plan of action for preventing women's vulnerability to trafficking and HIV/AIDS

Project Brief

With an aim to enhance status of women in the community for reduced vulnerability against exploitation and its consequences, with specific focus on preventing trafficking and HIV/AIDS the UNDP supported TAHA project is attempting to attain above mentioned objectives with three strategies -

1) Raising awareness and mobilizing the community about the trafficking, its relation with the scourge of HIV/AIDS and other consequences and creating environment to prevent all forms of trafficking in the community through community action;

2) Sensitisation and mobilization of the service providers and key stakeholders regarding trafficking of women and young girls in the target communities; and

3) Creating sustainable linkages between community, groups and key stakeholders and the service providers in order to reduce the vulnerabilities of young girls and women and to the prevent trafficking.

MAMTA through Prayatn in Madanpur Khadar and Child Survival India in Khera Khurd area has made community based plan of action to meet the objectives of the project in a sustainable manner, which is currently being implemented.
