As
we worked in this new area of Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH) we
realised that NGOs have pioneered new ways of responding to SRH and
HIV/AIDS and in some community settings provided the only response to
it. But most of it is not shared and remains confined to the area
where it was initiated. MAMTA has taken the responsibility of
collating and collecting such information and putting it together in a
resource centre, which has been established under the Informatics
strategy. We have established
resource centres at the central (at MAMTA) and state level (SRIJAN
network partners) to put
together resources on the identified core areas in YRSHR. These
resources include documents, research reports, monographs, journals
(on sexual behaviour, adolescent health, research) and directories.
This resource centre is accessible to professionals working in this
field and serves as a resource base for providing data/inputs to
related ministries, media advocacy and project planning. The library
database is now accessible online through our website,
www.yrshr.org.
Informatics is also responsible for bringing out new publications and
designing training modules. As a part of this activity we have brought
out a series of working papers and training modules for Programme
Managers and service providers aiming at providing better insight into
the SRH. Informatics is also involved in conducting trainings on Sexuality and
Gender and youth friendly services and follow-up of participants. This
is being jointly undertaken by support from Rfsu, which has an
expertise in this area and is a twinning partner of MAMTA.
We have also attempted to widely disseminate the available resources
to various stakeholders through a web portal
http://www.yrshr.org and
established our resource centre as a clearinghouse.
