Project Brief

The purpose of the project is to provide appropriate and adequate clinical and psycho-social support to people living with HIV/AIDS, their families and children affected by AIDS by means of home and community care, delivered through Non Government Organisations (NGOs) and referral. Since August 2002 more participatory activities are being taken up for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

In the third year, in January 2004, the program became more focused towards care and support by aiming at reduced spread of HIV and impact of AIDS with the purpose of increasing community action and access to prevention, care and impact mitigation efforts. We had organized technical up gradation workshops with our partners besides undertaking review and replanning workshop in partnership with HIV/AIDS.  Participatory Community review at all partner NGOs level was another major activity implemented in the last six months. MAMTA is facilitating partner NGOs to redesign proposals based on the proposed goals and objectives.

The outcomes of the project include improved coverage of effective community focused AIDS efforts, strengthened leadership and capacity of civil society to respond to AIDS and improved institutional, organizational and policy environment for community AIDS responses
